Laying the Foundation

Designed by a prominent Dunedin architect F.W. Petre in 1912, the chapel was known as “Our Lady of the Holy Rosary”. Petre’s design is of late Gothic, incorporating flying buttresses, rose window and apsidal sanctuary rising in ribs supporting a half dome. Inside the chapel, there are stained-glass windows and an altar of Carrara marble with an alabaster bas-relief of the last supper.
